Inform users of IE6 to Upgrade Their Browsers
Yes sadly there are many users that are still using Internet Explorer 6. Even after Microsoft has dropped support for it entirely and urges users to upgrade. The problem we face is that our websites will look great in every browser except Internet Explorer 6 because of it’s lack of support for many features such as many css classes, PNG transparency graphics, and much more. So what are we to do. Well I ran into this great WordPress plugin today that detects if the browser is IE6 and if it is it displays a lovely message that says:
We no longer support internet Explorer 6. Things are bound to be broken and perhaps unusable. We recommend an upgrade to a newer version of Internet Explorer or another web browser. A list of the most popular browsers can be found below. If you choose to continue without upgrading you acknowledge that your experience on this website will be degraded.
Then it lists all the most popular browsers starting with Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, and last…Internet Explorer.
I tested this out and it works great and prompts those that have not yet upgraded to do so. So if you have an issue with many of your viewers using IE6 then I suggest this plugin. You can learn more about it by clicking the links below:
